Quilt made by Blanche Murphy's mother when she was 12 years old. Blue and white print, crazy ann pattern.
15 12" crazy ann blocks alternated with 12" bleached muslin blocks. No lattice. 3 borders, 1st border (inner) is 2", solid blue. 2nd border (middle) is pieced, 3" flying geese pattern. 3rd border (outer) is 2" in solid blue. Back is bleached muslin. No binding, finishing is a knife—edge finish. Hand—pieced and set with a machine. Quilting pattern is a sunflower on the solid blocks and diagonal checkerboard on the crazy ann blocks, hand—quilted. Printed border has a diagonal quilting pattern. Probably cotton batting, thin. Back is machine—pieced bleached muslin.
