Description:
Quilt was pieced by Mrs. Annie Brown (1841—1906), grandmother of Mrs. Lela Voorhies. Mrs. Voorhies was a long—time communicant of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church. Pineapple log cabin pattern. Foundation pieced to muslin. All solid blocks have batting, but not the pineapple blocks. Pineapple blocks are 12" X 12", set on point, red chimney. 5 blocks X 6 blocks. Set in between pineapple blocks are dark red solid blocks with batting, 7" square. Hand—pieced and mostly machine quilted. Has a 3" solid border all around. Hand appliqued, 1/4" binding in a multicolored plaid. Back is a cotton print with a lace and floral design.
