Oak finished silver chest with brass handles on either side. The top has a metal plate, but no etching or engraving. The back had three hinges and the front has a lock and a drawer that sits flush with chest top. The drawer has two finger holes, but only opens if lid is open. The bottom of the chest is unfinished. Inside the flip top the chest is lined with a cream sateen and cord, with notches for silver. There are metal stops with the lock knob that fits on the front edge. The drawer also is lined with cream sateen and similar notches for silver.
