Shoe, athletic; left foot; rubber "cleats" on sole; canvas upper with black trim and sole; 8 sets of metal eyelets with black lace; sole embossed with "Pat. Oct. 20, 1914"; round brown rubber hallmark on sole reads, "Top Notch, Trade Mark, US Pat. Off."; purchased by Dick Haynes in 1975 with large lot of items in basement of Palmer Store at 1801 Main Street. John & LaVelle Palmer lived at 1504 4th St. in Baker City and both died in 1975. Their son, who lived in France, came to sell the contents of the store.
