Description:
Brown painted canvas trunk with wood beams, brass metal hardware and edges. There are decorated leather straps and handle supports, brass tacks hold supports together. The back has the continuation of the straps as well as metal hinges for the lid. On the right face of the trunk are black painted lettering that reads: "S.L.B. (Suzzie L. Bear?). There is also a tag with white on the backside with blue ink: "S. Adler, Bake, Or". A string attaches the tag to the side handles. The other side has a blue boarder and or the right edge: "#SP1608 25 1222" (in pencil) top left corner "Collect" (cursive), a seal of a capital H and a capital P intertwined inside, continues "To__S.A., Baker. Ore, Fe (rest missing), Fro..(missing), Hotel Pennsylva..(missing)". There is a lock hinge on the base of the trunk that reads: "Yale & Towne MFG Co., Stamford Conn, USA, Y & T (clover)". Inside the trunk is lined with a green fabric, dotted in circular patters. There is a pull—out shelf with a top covering that hinges to the back ,snaps in the front to secure and folds over in thirds. The shelf is comprised of three divisions; one small, one medium, and one large. The bottom section has two wooden rails on the sides to hold the shelf in place. The front of the shelf angles up to allow the trunk to close. The bottom section of the trunk is two compartments.
