Description:
Panorama: This was Baker City, looking west on Court Street in 1871. In foregroundis Baker's first lodge hall, Lodge 25, IOOF. At left is the county courthouse. Behind the lodge is the Baker Public School and to the right the Methodist Church. (Baker's present courthouse was built on the original site in 1930). Starting at the top right: Dirt street and wooden sidewalks ran in front of Parker's Photograohy Studio; below: Luther Buford Ison (1841—1889); Ison House in late 1979; business district Baker City or Haines; Men gathered for their wares in 1875 at the corner of Main and Valley. Baker City was the supply center for the mining towns in the area.
