Description
"Dr. Roger Biswell, Sr., taken when he was with the 163rd Depot Brigade at Camp Dodge, Iowa. The terrible flu-pneumonia epidemic hit and the men were dying "like flies" (more died from it than from war casulaties). Dr. Biswell was working night and day in the hospitals trying to do what he could to help the ill survive. Notice how much weight he had lost and the expression of extreme anxiety and fatigue on his face. There were no miracle drugs then to help the doctors save lives." Information provided by a member of the Biswell family.
