Sarah Combs and A.B. Combs were foster parents of Gladys Hardesty. Sarah Combs, daughter of John and Barbara Stewart was born in 1865, the first white girl born in Baker City. A.B. Combs, worked as a fireman for Oregon Railroad and Navigation Company; and for the Virtue, Flagstaff, and Baisley Mines.
