Collection Personal artifacts--Photographic
Description 7 photos of Battleship Oregon, taken May 1956, at Apra Harbor, Guam. Photos by Charles D. Peters. Charles D. Peters was "joiner in the boat shop, ship repair facility, Guam, Mariannas. " Two hours after these pictures, Navy Sea Tugs secured tow lines, towed to sea about 8 miles where Japanese would secure tow lines and tow the hull to Japan. It has been purchased by Japan because tests proved the old battleship had better steel than can be purchased today. Because I am an Oregonian by birth, I got special permission to take the pictures, May 1956."
